Safety & Community Standards
Effective 15 September 2026
Dating involves meeting strangers. We can make that meaningfully safer than it is elsewhere, and we do. We cannot make it risk-free, and any service telling you otherwise is selling you a feeling rather than a safeguard.
This page is specific about what we do, what we do not, and what is left for you to do. Please read it before you meet anyone.
1. Who gets in
Everyone is 18 or over. Enforced at signup.
Samuel has met a large share of the pool in person. The pool grows slowly because of it. That is a feature, not a bottleneck.
2. What we do not check
We do not verify identity. There is no selfie check and no ID check, on the app or at an event. A profile tells you what someone chose to say about themselves.
Photos are not checked before they appear. If a photo or a profile should not be there, report it and a person will look and remove it. None of that can tell you that someone is who they say they are, or that they are honest, kind, unmarried, or safe. Your judgment is the most important safety tool you have, and it always will be.
3. Criminal background screening
Aligned Hearts does not conduct criminal background screenings on its members.
We do not verify identity, and we do not run criminal record checks on members of the app. You should not assume that any person you meet through Aligned Hearts has been screened for a criminal history.
Treat every first meeting as a meeting with a stranger, because it is one.
4. Safety measures worth taking
These are not filler. Nearly every bad outcome in online dating traces back to one of them being skipped.
Anyone capable of committing identity theft is capable of falsifying a dating profile. Nothing we do removes that risk, so treat a profile as what someone chose to tell you.
There is no substitute for caution when communicating with a stranger who wants to meet you. Including a stranger who is charming, and especially a stranger who is charming quickly.
Keep identifying details out of early conversation. Your last name, your home address, your workplace, your regular gym, your personal email. Stop communicating with anyone who pressures you for personal or financial information, or who tries to manoeuvre you into revealing it.
Tell someone where you are going. A friend or family member should know who you are meeting, where, and when you expect to be home.
Meet in a public place with plenty of people around, and provide your own transport. Both ways. Never agree to be collected from your home, and do not let a first date move somewhere private.
Never send money. Not to a match, not to someone who says they are stuck abroad, not for a plane ticket, not for a crypto opportunity, not for a medical emergency, not for any reason at all. No legitimate member of Aligned Hearts will ever ask you for money, and neither will we.
Be alert to pressure to move off-platform quickly. Someone urgently steering you to text, WhatsApp or Telegram in the first few messages is a pattern worth noticing.
Trust your read. If something feels wrong, end it. You owe a stranger nothing, including politeness, and we would far rather hear about a date you cut short than one you sat through.
5. Reporting
In the app: open any profile or conversation and tap Report. It takes seconds.
By email:hello@alignedhearts.singles
At an event: find the host. They are in the room all evening and it is handled that night.
What happens next. A person reads it — not a classifier, not a queue. We acknowledge within one business day and tell you the outcome unless doing so would compromise someone's safety or a law-enforcement matter.
What we do about it. Depending on what we find: a warning, removal from events, suspension, or permanent removal. Threats, sexual misconduct, fraud and anything involving a minor result in immediate permanent removal and, where appropriate, a report to law enforcement.
We do not punish good-faith reports. Reporting someone never affects your standing here, even if we conclude no rule was broken.
6. Fraud, and what we will tell you
If we remove someone for fraud or deception, we may notify members who exchanged messages with them. That notification will tell you who was removed, when you last communicated, that they may have been using a false identity, that you should never send money or financial information to another member, and how to reach us.
We do this because finding out later that someone was removed months ago, having already sent them money, is a preventable outcome. If you have been targeted, tell us even if you think you handled it. Patterns are only visible across reports.
You can report romance fraud to the FTC at reportfraud.ftc.gov and to the FBI's Internet Crime Complaint Center at ic3.gov.
7. Blocking
Block anyone, at any time, from their profile or your conversation. They immediately stop appearing in your introductions and cannot contact you.
Block someone in advance. Tell us who you would rather never be shown — an ex, a colleague, a family member, a name you do not want appearing in the morning — and they are excluded before an introduction is ever made. Raise it at signup or any time after.
8. At an event
A host is in the room for the whole evening. If anyone makes you uncomfortable, find them. It is handled that night, discreetly, and you will not be asked to justify it.
Venue staff are briefed. If you would rather approach a bartender or the door than cross the room, that works too.
Guests who behave badly leave, and their membership ends. That has a cost we are happy to pay.
9. What we do not do
- We do not publish your profile, index it, or make it browsable
- We do not sell your data or share it with advertisers
- We do not allow anyone to message you who you have not matched with
- We do not allow accounts we know to belong to anyone under 18
- We do not permit anyone required to register as a sex offender to use this service
- We do not use AI to generate profiles, messages, or introduction reasoning
10. In an emergency
If you are in immediate danger, call 911.
For sexual assault support, the RAINN National Sexual Assault Hotline is 1-800-656-4673, free and confidential, 24 hours.
For domestic violence, the National Domestic Violence Hotline is 1-800-799-7233.
If you are in crisis or thinking about suicide, call or text 988 for the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.
Then, when you are ready, tell us at hello@alignedhearts.singles. We will act on it.
11. Regulatory reporting
As an online dating service, Aligned Hearts files an annual safety report with the Colorado Attorney General's office by 31 January each year, as required by Colorado law, and complies with the disclosure requirements of the New Jersey Internet Dating Safety Act and equivalent laws in other states.
